Duplex basket strainers are designed with the capability of operating continuously without having to be shut down for cleaning. When one basket is full, the flow is shifted to the other one allowing for the first basket to be removed, cleaned, or replaced. These types of strainers are extremely valuable to applications where it is impossible to shut off flow and stop operation.
Isolating the two strainer basket chambers is a unique flow diverter valve cartridge. This allows the flow to go from one chamber to another without the flow being shutdown with the use of an easy-to-turn handle. Without special tools, the chamber is drained and then the cover is lifted and swung clear of the chamber opening. In order to prevent fluid bypass into the out of service chamber, dynamic diverter cartridge seals were designed and manufactured into this strainer. This is a highly dynamic sealing system that ensures positive sealing and exceptionally long seat life. No adjustments or gear box are needed.
To protect against leakage, a double sealing system on the upper and lower stem guards is used. Special reinforced polymer seats are used for extended service life. If access to the cartridge is necessary, simply remove four bolts and remove the cartridge from the top of the strainer. To service the baskets, there are two drain plugs, one on each side, that make this process incredibly easy. There is also a vent valve on top of each basket cover in an easily accessible area. Overall, ease of use and maintenance along with incredible straining power is the mode of operandi for the Model 53BTX Ball Type Duplex Basket Strainer.
