Simplex pipeline strainers remove damage causing particulate matter from the process media,
protecting system components such as flow meters, pumps, and spray nozzles. These are generally used when frequent cleaning is needed. Basket strainers are installed in an upright position, allowing for the basket to be lifted out from the top. This, however, limits the basket strainer to being installed in horizontal lines only. The line is then temporarily shut down and the
basket removed for cleaning or replacement.
Eaton’s Model 72 has been the industry standard simplex basket strainer for over 50 years. A
few of the reasons for its popularity are, first, the unusually large basket capacity. Second,
the free straining area is a least 6 times the cross-sectional pipe area. Third, no tools are
needed to open the cover. Fourth, the quick opening, swinging yoke can be disassembled and the
basket removed in seconds.
The wall thicknesses of this strainer are incredibly heavy, making it ideal in heavy duty applications. Prevention of material from bypassing the basket and tight seals are due to the precision machined basket seats. Overall, the Eaton Model 72 is a top quality, heavy duty unit designed for the most demanding of applications.
